Stuffed Wool Bunny
From Natural Earth Farm

Enjoy knitting this cute bunny for spring! Even your young child can get involved by finger knitting the inside of the ears and the bow tie. This little bunny begins very much the same as the gnome baby pattern seen on the Winter Wonderfest.

Materials
About 25 yards of wool yarn for main color
Small amount of wool yarn in contrasting color for inside of ears and tail and bow tie
Wool for Stuffing
Knitting Needles for weight of wool used - for worsted weight use size 6
Yarn needle for sewing

First Leg
Cast on 10 stitches, leaving a 8” tail
Knit for 10 rows
Break Yarn

Second Leg
Cast on 10 stitches on same needle that is holding first leg, leaving a 15” tail
Knit for 10 rows

Body and Head
Knit across all 20 stitches (both legs) to form body and head for a total of 28 rows

Sewing up Legs, Body and Head
Take shorter strand of yarn of leg and sew running stitch across short side of leg and pull to gather to form the foot.  Continue sewing up leg.  Tie yarn with other piece of yarn.

Take long strand of yarn from other leg and repeat as with first leg. This time continue sewing up the back of the body.  Stop about half way up.  (This long portion is going to be both the body and head.)

Stuff legs and body up to where it sewn .  Take yarn and needle again and  use a running stitch around the body to form the bunny’s neck.  Pull and tie.  Now finish sewing up the back of the head.  Stuff head and then sew straight across the top of the head.  Finish.

 Knit Arms
Cast on 8 stitches and knit 8 rows. Cast off.  Leave Tail.
Repeat for other arm.

Sew Up Arms
Sew up cast off end  with a running stitch and gather.  Sew up side of arm.  Stuff arm.  Sew up last end and sew arm onto side of bunny. Repeat for other arm.

Ears
Cast on  6 stitches.  Knit 12 rows in stockinette stitch.  Knit two stitches together at the beginning of the next two rows. Cast off.  Repeat for other ear.    Sew each ear to each side of the bunny’s head.  Crochet or finger knit enough length in the contrasting color yarn to be sewn into the inside of each ear.

Tail
Cast on 8 stitches.  Knit enough rows to form a square.  Cast off.  Sew a running stitch around border of square and pull to form a tail.  Stuff a bit if necessary and sew on to back side of bunny.

Bow Tie

Finger Knit enough length to tie a bow around the bunny’s neck.
