Making Valentine's Cards

Today I packed up everything I could think of that might be useful for making Valentine's Day Cards:

  • Doilies (white and gold)
  • Foam shapes
  • Satin ribbon in spring colors
  • Lace ribbon
  • Pink paper
  • Glitter glue
  • Fabric
  • Decorative buttons
  • Hole Punch

Then I went to a friends where we got everything out on the table and let the kids set off to work to make Valentine's Day cards. We took card stock, bright white paper cut 8" x 10" pieces of paper in half and then folded them in half to make a card. We gave each child a card and the materials above and let them loose.

I have to admit that after we got started I felt encouraged to jump in make some cards myself. Everyone had fun! I think I had more fun than anyone as I let myself loose and used all these materials I had been keeping for a "special day"! I got so involved in making cards. I found myself making a special card for my husband, my son, my daughter and my friend. And each card spoke to me about that person.

So gather up what you have on hand to let the kids go to town cutting and pasting and gluing and designing! I bet you will find yourself right in there working on cards too!
